Guidance Consultation Services

My services are for people of all socioeconomic situations. My career covers experience in state-funded low-income benefits and HUD Senior Housing as well as private pay luxury memory care communities.

My goal is to help you.

Whether you recently learned of a loved one’s memory loss diagnosis or you’ve been in the thick of caregiving and navigating memory loss symptoms for several years, it is primarily important to know that you are not alone. Thankfully there are many options when it comes to community education, online resources, and support groups, but there does come a time when your particular situation is nuanced from everyone else's and it may be helpful to speak with someone in the field of Gerontology and Dementia Care that knows how to navigate all the options for care, ideally without the pressure of marketing. It may be refreshing to know that I am not beholden to any other organization or business, so I can keep in mind your best interest and that of the one with the memory loss diagnosis. I do not receive incentives or reimbursement for referrals, recommendations, or successful transitions to care, unlike many claimed free services in the area. My goal is to help you rest well at night knowing you are making the best decisions possible on behalf of the one you love with dementia.

Guidance Consultation is intended for any informal, unpaid family caregiver that the responsibility of care has fallen on. Just as new babies don’t come with manuals and their care is not always obvious or easy, an adult with a dementia diagnosis doesn’t come with a play-by-play book and the steps are not always obvious or common sense. It’s important to ask for help and to understand what all the options are.

What Can You Expect?

First Hour of Consulting: $135

*Additional 30-minute increments are an additional $40 each

*one $25 flat travel fee for each meeting

In the first part of our meeting, I will listen as you explain your situation. Every individual and cast of characters is very different, so it’s helpful for me to know the who, what, when, where, and why of your story. I have found that financial factors and where you are in the dementia journey play a significant role in this conversation, so while I will not need specific private information initially, I may ask some questions to help guide us to services and resources that are appropriate and available for the memory impaired person. The purpose of the consultation is to help you identify the best services for your loved one, discuss how you are coping with your loved one’s diagnosis and care, and provide some practical tools to improve care for you and your loved one. You may find one consultation sufficient to guide you, or we may decide together to schedule additional sessions. These conversations can be very difficult, perhaps even traumatic, for the person with the diagnosis, and it is suggested that the person with the diagnosis not be present during the visit, if possible. Consultations can also be held via a zoom call, at a library, coffee shop, restaurant, or where you feel comfortable.

ALL SERVICES

  • Individual Consultation

Individual Consultation is intended for any informal, unpaid family caregiver on whom the responsibility of care has fallen. Whether you recently learned of a loved one’s memory loss diagnosis or have been in the thick of caregiving for several years, it is essential to know that you are not alone.

  • Support Groups

Are you looking to enhance your offerings to your residents’ loved ones? Support Groups allow caregivers to make new friends, learn they are not alone in the caregiving journey, and make things easier or more enjoyable throughout navigating care.

  • Frontline Caregivers

Group education for professional caregivers. These modules are intended for formal caregivers working in memory care communities, skilled care communities, adult day services, home health care agencies, hospice care organizations, and shared housing.

  • Family Caregivers

Group education for family and informal caregivers. These modules are intended for family caregivers, unpaid volunteers, fellow church members, neighbors, or anyone that has found themselves “informally” standing alongside someone with memory impairment.
